Pesticide Use Notification Plan

home » Pesticide Notification

The pesticide use notification plan has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Pesticides Regulation 1995 (the Regulation).

The aim of the plan sets out how Far North Coast County Council trading as Far North Coast Weeds (FNCW) will notify members of the community of pesticide applications it makes or allows to be made to public places that it manages. Notification of pesticide use will allow members of the community to make informed decisions to reduce their exposure to pesticides if they wish. Council ensures that pesticides are applied to public places in a safe, responsible manner, minimising harm to the community and the environment.
The Plan sets out how Council will notify members of the community of pesticide applications it makes in public places.

The Plan describes:
• What public places are covered by the plan.
• Who regularly uses these public places and an estimate of the level of use.
• How and when FNCW will provide the community with information about it’s pesticide applications in public places (i.e. what notification arrangements will be used).
• How the community can access this plan and get more information about FNCW’s notification arrangements.
• How future reviews of the plan will be conducted.
• Contact details for anyone wanting more information about the plan.

FNCW administers the NSW Noxious Weeds Act, 1993 as a Local Control Authority on behalf of the Councils of Tweed, Ballina, Byron, Kyogle, Lismore and Richmond Valley. Council is responsible for the control of noxious weeds on private property and Constituent Council’s roadsides. The majority of pesticide use is limited to the application of herbicides to control noxious weeds, however environmental weeds may be treated at the request of our Constituent Councils.
